Let’s talk: Eating Disorders with Hope Virgo Ticket Options
The support zone is back with our Let’s talk series this semester, we want to use the lets talk platform to raise awareness, provide support, spread information and give students a space to discuss issues that affect students currently on our campuses. This edition is focused on Eating Disorders and features Hope Virgo, a renown mental health campaigner and author.
For four years, Hope managed to keep it hidden, keeping dark secrets from friends and family. But then, on 17th November 2007, Hope's world changed forever. She was admitted to a mental health hospital. Her skin was yellowing, her heart was failing. She was barely recognizable. Forced to leave her family and friends, the hospital became her home. Over the next year, at her lowest ebb, Hope faced the biggest challenge of her life. She had to find the courage to beat her anorexia. Hope suffered with anorexia for over 4 years, before being admitted to a Mental Health hospital for a year, fighting one of the hardest battles of her life.
At this edition of let’s talk, Hope would be speaking about her experiences over the years and interacting with students, the event would take place at Haris bar on Wednesday the 13th of March from 3pm-5pm.
The story of Hope's recovery will inspire countless others. Join us for a cosy afternoon of warm discussions, positive interactions as we host Hope at the University of Surrey students union.
All proceeds made from ticket sales would be donated towards BEAT, the UK’s eating disorder charity.
